A Workshop for Young Sculptors at the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art
In June 2023, the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art hosted a sculpture workshop for children, inspired by the legacy of Olga Rapay. The event took place within the framework of the "Strength of Fragility" exhibition, which presented restored ceramic panels by the artist. These panels once adorned the interiors of the Bratislava Hotel in Kyiv and were previously considered lost.
Seventeen young aspiring ceramists participated in the workshop. Over several hours, they worked on creating their own ceramic panels, drawing inspiration from the shapes, colors, and energy of Olga Rapay's works surrounding them.
After completing the sculpting process, the children's artworks underwent thermal treatment, acquiring deeper and more vibrant colors as well as the necessary durability. The finished panels were exhibited in the museum halls alongside Olga Rapay's original works, emphasizing the artistic connection between generations.
This workshop became a significant cultural event in Kyiv’s artistic scene, helping to popularize Ukrainian decorative arts among the younger generation and honoring Olga Rapay’s creative heritage.
