Exhibition of creative works at the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth
On March 21, 2025, the exhibition “The Amazing World of Olga Rapai” opened at the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth, which lasted until March 24. This exhibition presented ceramic works by students of the “Art Ceramics” group under the leadership of Olena Rumyantseva, inspired by the work of the outstanding Ukrainian sculptor-ceramicist Olga Rapai.
The project involved 60 children aged 5 to 17, who from October to March created their own ceramic works, reproducing images and themes characteristic of Olga Rapai’s work: friendship, carols, a colorful circus, fairy-tale plots of the peoples of the world. The young artists not only reproduced the forms, but also conveyed the character, emotions and atmosphere inherent in the artist’s works.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by well-known specialists - museum workers, art historians, restorers. Lyudmila Strokova, Director General of the National Museum of Folk Decorative Art, highly praised the children’s works and noted that they should be inspired by the museum’s ceramic collections. She also announced plans to establish a National Decorative Arts Award, which she unofficially called the “Ceramic Oscar.”
Oksana Dobrovolska, director of the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth, emphasized that the students’ works reflect their inner world, radiate light and kindness, and also recreate the simple but profound philosophy of the master Olga Rapai.
This exhibition became a vivid example of how the work of outstanding artists can inspire new generations to create their own unique works of art.
