An exhibition of works by Petro Boyko in an abandoned tuberculosis dispensary in Kyiv
In May 2024, Ukrainian avant-garde artist Petro Boyko organized an unusual exhibition of his works in an abandoned tuberculosis dispensary on Ihor Branovytskyi Street in Kyiv.
This event was aimed at drawing attention to people with difficult life circumstances, in particular the homeless, whom the artist considers to be true connoisseurs of his art. The choice of location was not accidental: the walls of the dispensary, according to Boyko, are “soaked in the touch of people who know the value of life.”
This exhibition was part of a series of events dedicated to the artist’s 70th birthday, which he celebrated on April 25, 2024.
The culmination of the celebrations was the presentation of the “Cinema in My Head” project on December 4, 2024 at the Kyiv House of Cinema. The project included the premiere of a short film shot in the same abandoned dispensary, an exhibition of Boyko’s paintings, and a presentation of a catalog of his works. The film tells the story of the artist’s work, and the actors were the exhibition visitors and the artist himself.
