“Special Art” in Kyiv: An Exhibition of Creativity by People with Special Needs
From September 28 to October 2, 2020, the exhibition hall of the Institute of Contemporary Art Problems of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine presented “Art of Special People”, dedicated to the creativity of people with special needs from Ukraine and Uruguay.
The main idea of the project was to demonstrate the potential of art as a tool of therapy and behavioral correction, as well as to explore its influence on individuals through the lens of neuroart theory.
The organizers aimed to spark discussion around neuroart as a unique form of creative act that can both reveal the inner world of a person and contribute to their social integration. The exhibition also sought to draw attention to the professional approach to working with people with special needs, while familiarizing visitors and specialists with international experience and practical developments in this field.
The exhibition was organized by the Department of International Relations and Social Sciences of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine together with researchers from Ukraine, Uruguay, and Estonia who study neuroart.
Partners and contributors:
- Institute of Neuroartes, Estonia;
