“Uprising” and “The Girl” to appear in the Museum’s permanent exhibition

According to the museum’s director, Semen Kantor, the paintings will shortly be on view as part of the permanent display. Both works come with confirmed provenance and have already been included in the official catalogue of the artist’s legacy. Their authenticity has been verified by the Valeriy (Valik) Geghamyan Foundation and the Center for Expertise, Appraisal, and Restoration at NAKKKiM.

Valeriy Arutyunovych Geghamyan (1925–2000) was a painter, educator, and founder of the Art and Graphics Department at the Odesa Pedagogical Institute. Born in the Armenian village of Garni, he studied at the Yerevan Art School and later at the Yerevan Art Institute in the workshop of Martiros Saryan. His art combined a profound sense of imagery with expressiveness and technical mastery.

For more than half a century, Geghamyan remained a key figure in Odesa’s cultural life, and his legacy continues to be an integral part of the Ukrainian artistic context.
