Exhibition of paintings by Valery Geghamyan at the Chocolate House

In April 2018, a significant event for fans of Valery Geghamyan's work took place in Kyiv - an exhibition of his paintings at the Chocolate House (a branch of the National Museum "Kyiv Art Gallery") and the presentation of the Valery Geghamyan Award. The event took place from April 24 to 26 and became an important milestone in honoring the legacy of this outstanding artist and teacher.

The exhibition featured paintings from the artist's family collection that had not previously been exhibited publicly. These works demonstrate the monumentality, expressiveness and depth of images characteristic of Geghamyan. His painting is distinguished by its inner drama, where the main object is a person in extreme emotional states.

During the event, the Valery Geghamyan Award, established by the public organization "The Best Artist", the Association of Art-Critics, Experts, Valuation Specialists and Restorers and the Valery Geghamyan Foundation, was officially presented. This prize is designed to support young artists who continue the traditions of expressive painting and philosophical understanding of the image.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by famous artists, art critics and representatives of the public. In particular, the Minister of Culture Yevhen Nyshchuk and the artist's grandson Maximilian Geghamyan, who shared his memories of his grandfather. This gave the event a special emotional depth and emphasized the importance of Valery Geghamyan's legacy for contemporary Ukrainian art.

This exhibition and the presentation of the award were an important step in returning the name of Valery Geghamyan to the cultural discourse and honoring his contribution to the development of Ukrainian fine arts.
